Three Greenway Committee meetings are planned. They are planned for Tuesday May 7, July 9 & September 10th, all at 7 pm. The first of these will be used to set our goals for the year and determine needed planning and resources. The location will be Walnut Grove Park near the central sign. Please bring a chair or blanket. If rain is imminent we will gather in the park shelter.  If there is heavy rain the meeting date will move to the following week. Bring your questions and suggestions.

Low Mow May

Walnut Grove has directed that lawn mowing for May will consist of low mow in which mowing will be minimized to foster pollinators and will occur only if grass reaches 8” or more.

Other News

Ten lampposts in Greenway D were serviced in March. Three structurally challenged lampposts are scheduled to be replaced. Refurbishment and painting of lampposts is scheduled to begin during the week of May 28th.

Greenway Committee Co-Chairs have completed an extensive search and interview process to determine an Arborist Company to serve Walnut Grove HOA. The outcome is that Arbor Systems was selected. Arbor Systems is familiar with the Greenways and brings a history of solid performance in tree care & maintenance. Priorities for this year are: Emerald Ash Borer treatment, continued pruning on Greenway B and into Greenway C and removal of several dying trees.

Walnut Grove has received a grant from the Madison Master Gardeners Association whose purpose is to install a rain garden in Greenway C. The June Volunteer Workday will be used to install native perennials in the rain garden site. Volunteers are needed to prepare the area prior to June 8.
