Volunteers are sought for an upcoming Rain Garden Project. Walnut Grove has received a grant from the Madison Area Master Gardeners Association with a goal to install a Rain Garden in Greenway C.
Existing native perennials at the Rain Garden site will be harvested and relocated to the existing Native Gardens in that Greenway. Volunteer assistance will be needed with this task and to augment a naturally occurring depression and form a partial berm around the area which will become the Rain Garden. The purpose of the project is not only to establish a Rain Garden but also to increase the variety and number of native perennials in the woodland. We will also remove some invasive plants that have migrated into the area.
Work dates are Wednesday and Thursday June 5 & 6 from 4-7pm. Any portion of either of these dates is welcome and encouraged. Volunteers need not be experienced gardeners. Direction and support will be provided. Items to bring are garden gloves, insect spray if indicated, a sturdy rake, trowel and shovel.
Please consider joining. Volunteer Workdates provide an opportunity to meet neighbors and, for some, gain volunteer credit.
